Abstract: This is the case of a 57-year-old man suffering from a hepatic abscess complicated by a pleural fistula, a rare and serious complication. Following the onset of chest pain and a decline in general health, tests revealed a severe inflammatory syndrome. Successive chest radiographs showed progressive lung opacity. A computed tomography (CT) scan confirmed the diagnosis, revealing a hepatic collection in segment VIII that was directly communicating with an encysted pleural collection. The scan also allowed for the assessment of the extent of complications, such as pulmonary atelectasis. This article highlights the role of imaging, particularly CT, for the precise diagnosis of complicated hepatic abscesses, which helps guide therapeutic management and improve patient prognosis.
